Heavy Hearted

I feel like I cannot maneuver around this blog...which limits my great creative capacity! Ahem.  Anway...I am still finding my way with this whole blogging thing and I think I need a guide...no, not a guide, a format? I don't know what I need but I come across some blogs that are so wrought with insight and clever little tidbits that it leaves me wondering what I am doing here. Nobody is viewing this anyway...so is it a waste of time? That's a good question....do I need validation from others in order to get any sort of reward out of this? I hope not but a single comment now and then would be nice. Ho-hum.

Anyway, in heavier news my super fantastical, excellent, out of this world neighbor died  unexpectedly last week. It broke my heart. I literally cried all day. He was 65 and died of a heart attack. When I moved in, I was a single mom. He cut my grass, snow plowed for me and welcomed me with open arms to the neighborhood. He and his wife (whom he clearly adored) made me feel right at home immediately. After I got married, my husband and he became fast friends (as he did with everyone in the neighborhood). My husband and he spent countless hours chit-chatting over the fence. He greeted us nearly every time we arrived home no matter the hour, I'm certain he did not sleep. Always asking our children how their game was, if they'd scored etc. And to us it was always...how was work, how bout this weather, hows mom...always, always showing an interest in our lives. Everytime my husband had a question about a home improvement project....over to "Peakers" he'd go. God bless him, he was a patient man. There is definitely a void in our hearts because of this loss. Our home doesn't feel quite the same without his watchful eye and cheery smile. You will be missed "Peaker". RIP my friend.

Oh my gooooodness...I cannot believe I found this old blog!! I have been thinking lately (the last 2 days) that I should create a blog to get my creative juices flowing and low and behold lookey what we have here!  So - lots has changed since 2007. For starters...I am MARRIED...Yahooey!  I found the most perfect man for me that is!  I now have a step son to boot. We have a hustle and bustle household. Lots of action, soccer, hockey, baseball, softball, cheer, band, ya-dah, ya-dah, ya-dah.

I am still working out the kinks of blogging...links, color schemes, well...really all of it. I mean...I wonder if what I have to say will interest anyone?  That is neither here nor there I suppose...the idea is a creative outlet..stick with the plan!!

Okay people, lets see where this takes us. I have seen some perty cool blogs out there and I am hoping to create my own! Ready-set-go!

TGIGF

Thank God it's Good Friday! Well, I am here by my lonesome today since Nelly is off....should make for a long boring day! I hope we get sent home early, although I pretty much doubt that will happen. Tonight we are coloring Easter eggs, my 2 sisters are coming over and my nephew, Kennedy is very excited about that! I bought 2 dozen eggs and my sister usually brings a couple as well....we go a little overboard...b/c we like to color them too!! hee-hee. So, we'll probably order pizza and hang out, should be a fun night. Tomorrow I MIGHT see wonderboy but I'm not sure, I would like to but I'm really not sweating it, if it works out great, if not - whatever. I mean he's not even living here anymore so I'm not really thinking much of it, although we have been keeping in touch. You never know what the future holds I guess but I'm just taking it for what it's worth right now.

I am planning to stay in Sat since Sun is Easter but there is a slim chance if I don't see the boy that I will end up going out. Maybe rather than going out dancing, I'll just go see a movie. My sister loves going out dancing so I think she might want to.

Does this weather suck or what?! It was snowing this morning....I AM OVER IT!!!!!!!!!

Nothing Much

Nothing much new here. I am looking forward to Easter, I am having brunch at my house so the whole family will be coming over which is nice b/c we usually don't all get together on Easter. However I am not off work on Good Friday or Mon. after Easter like a lot of people (NELLY!)...course we don't get paid for it. I was considering taking a couple days off during the week next week but I sorta want to save it up for summer. I have arranged for daycare for the whole week so really I could work. I might just take Friday and do something with Kennedy and one of her friends and her mom.

I want to plan a trip...having something to look forward to makes everything seem better!

I haven't worked out in a week and a 1/2 UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big Success

So the party was a success - everyone stayed late, in fact a couple of my sisters stayed until 3:00 a.m.!! Wonderboy was there and cute and sweet as ever. Too bad he's back in Indy now. He'll be home Easter weekend though, so I suspect we'll see eachother then. This weekend I have no plans which is gooood! I need to start getting things ready for Easter as I'll be the one hosting Easter Brunch. I am making homade Mac-n-Cheese and meatballs and buying assorted bread and rolls and my sisters have been assigned various other food items so it should be a big feast, I am looking forward to it! My latest project is rescuing/adopting a boxer. I filled out an application and now they are doing a home check tomorrow and then they try to find a boxer that is best suited for our family. I am really excited about it. I've always wanted a boxer, I just think they are the cutest dogs! Although they are known to be very hyper, I am going to be sure to request one that is on the more calm side. I like the idea of having a bigger dog around though, I feel safer, and especially for playing outside in the summer, I won't have to drag Kennedy in the house everytime I want to run in for a second to get something. I never let her outside for a second if I'm not there. But I'll feel more at ease with a big dog in the yard with her. I will be sure to get the ole "Beware of Dog" sign for the yard! The cost is 250.00 which is kinda steep but at least it's for a dog I really want. So that's all for now I guess. We'll see how the home visit goes, they are bringing a boxer over to "visit" so I am excited about that!

I'm back and it's Party Time!

So, I am throwing a little shin-dig for my family and close friends. Just an end of winter, hellloooo spring par-tay! I bought some cute tropical looking things to throw in the basement, enough liquor for a football team and some snacks to have on hand...sounds like the perfect party to me! I am actually really looking forward to it. I don't know if "wonderboy" will be there or not, he was supposed to be but I haven't really talked to him much this week. That is neither here nor there, I love to entertain so I will be having fun no matter what. And I told everyone to wear their summer-y clothes so we could get in the mood! Should be a fun weekend. And I MUST make it to the gym one day this weekend. I am still going... not as much as I should be but probably 2-4 times a week depending on the week....well, actually probably not 4 in a while, so, we'll agree on a happy medium of 3 ALRIGHT 2!!!!!!!!!!! SHEESH! I am looking forward to getting out of here today and getting the weekend started. Hope all is well with everyone....if anyone is even reading this thing anymore!!!

Crabby Patty

Yeah....so I think it is worse to LEAVE this God awful state and realize what you're missing by going to Florida! It was b-e-a-u-tiful in Florida and now we're here back in this mess. I honestly have to ask myself what I am thinking...."what are you thinking?!??!" So we had a great time in Florida, I need to spend all my winters there...what kind of job can you get that allows that? I also realize that I need to travel much more, it's just so fun packing up and going to a completely different place surrounded by different people, having a different routine....it's just good for ya!

Besides being crabby about the weather, I have been having some car issues that started out sounding very bad but have dwindled down to just being the radiator. The bad part is, the guy who sold me the car assured me it was under warranty till 70,000 and it only has 34,000 miles now....well, to make a long, annoying, painful story very short, it's not under warranty and so basically I am screwed. But the car is fixed and I am going to pick it up today...on the other side of the world....somewhere near Nelly Land.

In addition to the weather and the car....there is the "boy"....."boy wonder" would be a good name for him because I am always WONDERING what the hell he's thinking! He was so sweet while I was in Florida calling everyday, so comforting and helpful about my car and telling me "oh, we'll take care of it, I'll help you" etc. Then I get home and it's like he barely has 5 minutes to talk to me. I dont' think i have the patience to try to figure it out. Either you want to date someone or not. I may be a bit bitter, or just old but I am not in the mood for the guessing game! I will be making plans this weekend and if he wants to see me, he'll have to catch up with me!

There are other things I am crabby about as well but I think I've done enough complaining for one post. The good thing is that I'm getting a haircut tonight so that's always fun, I love going to the salon! I'm going to change it up, just a bit, I can't stand wearing it the same for too long!

Thanks to all who kept reading while I was MIA!

So, I think I need to get off the roller coaster with the boy. He is sweet and perfect but he has some unresolved issues with a past relationship that he needs to resolve and I think he's going to end up back in Indiana so I need to just back off, I am already far too attached to him. What a bummer that the first guy I meet after the break up is in a situation like this. Too bad, I really liked him. Then there is the ex who thinks we should run off and get married. Maybe I need to stay away from all men for a while. SHEESH! Anyway the working out is going great, as I mentioned, i work out with the ex which is weird sometimes but really it's good b/c he pushes me and he makes me go when I don't want to and he really is helping me.

I was thinking it would be a good time to go sledding! We haven't gone all year and I think with the snow coming, now would be a perfect time.

And So it Goes

So I guess it's been a bit since I've blogged. Nothing that exciting to talk about I guess. Well, there is always the cute boy. He was out of town last week from Wed-Sun and he called me everyday, he even said he missed me -awwwww! So, I saw him on Monday, we just went out to get some carry out to about 5 different places before we ended up getting pizza b/c nothing we wanted was open and picked up a cake for the b-day girl over here! I'm not sure if we'll be seeing eachother tonight or not, I hope so b/c he is going out of town again this weekend but only Fri-sun so it's not so bad. I actually got some rest last night so that was good. This weekend is my nephews going away party...he is joining the service - Army - infantry. My sister is pretty shook up about it, I can't blame her but hopefully by the time he goes through basic training and whatever else, things will change a bit. I went to the gym last night and I am going again tonight. I'm working out with my ex - which is good and bad. It's good b/c he pushes me and drags me there when I don't want to go and it's bad well for obvious reasons! Until tomorrow......(or sometime soon!)

Ain't Life Grand?!

Why is that having a new romance in your life makes everything so much better?! Well, except sleeping....sleep what's that? I've pulled more all nighters this week then I did in Colllege!!! So, things are going great with the cute boy. He is just always saying (and doing) the right thing! There must be something dreadfully wrong with him. Normally a guy is getting on my nerves by now but not him. I can't seem to spend enough time with him. It's very odd that I've only known him for a week and a half, it seems much longer, we just hit it off so well. We went to dinner and a movie Mon, went to see the Departed which was really good and we laughed so much through dinner. He is leaving to go out of town today until Sun night, whaaaa!!! That is good though, I have been neglecting all of my chores and things. I need to write out bills and straighten up my room, clean my house etc. Not to mention having a new man in your life is very expensive....I realized that I have nothing cute to wear to go out on dates and I hate all my clothes! So, I went out shopping Sat and spent waaaaaay to much money on clothes and "stuff"! I am looking forward to a low key weekend. AND I need to go to the gym, I haven't gone since last week!! Tomorrow is WW...yikes!

Everything Sucks

Well not really, not even close but this is what it's come to for Nelly and I. I have decided I hate all my clothes, work is totally boring, I am dying for white casltes but no doubt if I eat them I will gain the 1.8 lbs it took me a week and 3 work outs to get off, it's too cold to go outside for any reason whatsoever. As you can see my life is falling apart ;-)

Tonight is pizza night in my household, usually I hang out with my sissy and my babygirl and we order pizzie! I love pizzie, this is the highlight of my Friday night...how lame is that?! BUT tomorrow...Sat night, I will be livin' large. Meeting a couple girls for dinner and then we're goin' dancin and as if that's not enough of a good time...the cute boy is planning to meet up with me on Sat while we're out....my life has taken a turn for the better!!

1.8, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

So, the weight loss process is going sloooowly! I went to the gym this week and worked out 3 times, which I was pretty impressed with and I only lost 1.8 lbs! UGH! I will be going again to the gym tonight...I think, it is pretty cold. If I stay home, I will at least pull out and dust off an exercise video! I went out with the cute boy last night, it was nice. He smells amazing and he's so sweet and very easy on the eyes! I hope things go well, we'll see - no expectations....easier said then done I think. One week closer to our florida trip....31 days and counting!

Man, could it be any colder outside? I think it's an arctic blast for cryin' out loud!!

What a difference a day makes

Okay, so I think I need to be a bit more hesitant about this new guy. I am seeing some red flags about his past relationship and I don't think he's over it so I have to keep perspective. It's fine to go out and have some fun but I need to stay grounded. It's no problem, I know exactly how to do that. This weekend I am going out with some of my girlfriends and that'll be a lot of fun, it's perfect. I have a lot of stuff going on anyway, I am totally excited about our trip to florida (Nelly and I) so I am totally focused on getting in shape for that. I went to the gym again last night...ugh, bad move, I was so tired from not getting enough sleep that I was draggin a$$ big time! Anyway at least I got my 3 visits in before WW tomorrow, that was my goal. Also I finally got some much needed sleep last night, I went to bed around 9:00 (woke up at 1:00) apparently my body has adjusted to getting 3 hours sleep! Anyway, I went back to bed and slept till 7:00, I feel totally rested. Thank God!

Tuesday, January 23, 2007

I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it (for those of you Elf fans, you know the proper tone to use when shouting this!). I met a cute, cute boy. Woo-who. Guess going out does have it's advantages. Just met him Sat, saw him last night and we're going out again tomorrow. I'm not going to get into too many details about him except that he is adorable! Blue eyes, blondish hair, gorgeous smile, very stylish, nuf said. I think I'd forgotten how fun dating is - anticipating the phone calls, figuring out what to wear on your date, staying up way to late on a "school nite" emails, and sweet text messages, butterflies in your stomach...the whole nine. Ahh, life is good. In addition to that good news, i have also gone to the gym TWICE since Thurs. which means I only have to go one more time before Thurs to keep my pact with Nelly. I said I would go 3 times this week. I am hoping it'll make a difference on Thurs. when I go to my WW meeting. I am expecting a decent loss this week....eventhough I overdid it on the weekend, hopefully working out will cancel that out. Wish me luck with the boy!

Friday, January 19, 2007

We've made it to Friday...woo-whooo!!! I am so happy to kick off the weekend, tonight my best friend is coming over with her little girls to have a play date, so there will be pizza involved and that makes everything more fun! My sister will be there too so it should be a fun start to the weekend. I have plans pretty much all day tomorrow, dinner/movie/bar - good times! Also, I have to either work out at home or go to the gym sometimes this weekend. I promised in front of God and Nelly that I would do some form of exercise 3 times this week. I lost .6 lbs this week, grrr! I expect a much bigger loss next week, I"ve been tracking my a$$ off! So, Happy Friday to all!

Thursday, January 18, 2007

I am a loser and I don't mean literally! I didn't go to the gym and I dont' think I lost any weight this week...we'll see today at noon (there is still hope!). That's it, I committed to Nelly that I am going to the gym 3 times this week (my week is Thurs to Thurs). I am also going out dancing this weekend so I am going to dance my a$$ off to burn a few calories instead of going there to flirt with cute boys as was my first intention! I did however go out for pizza and remain completely in control rather than gorging myself like a stuffed pig....isn't it an enticing picture I paint of myself? Today is my early day so I get to leave work at 3:00 -that's the great part, coming in at 6:30 is the horrendous part. Do you know that my 6 year old daughter says horrendous now, isn't that hilarious?! She also says hideous (2 of my favorite words of course!) I don't care who ya are, that's funny!

Catcha later!

Tuesday, January 16, 2007

Okay, my daughter is better, I no longer have any reason NOT to go to the gym..so tonight I'm going to the gym....I hope. NO...I'm going to the gym....right? COME ON, what is wrong with me, I need to dig my heels in and start working out, what is so hard about it? Does anyone have the answer to that question? I know I feel better once I start doing it so I just have to do it. Even if I go and just walk on the treadmill I will be happy, it's better than sitting in front of the t.v.! Speaking of t.v., American Idol starts tonight, all you Idol fans out there. I like watching it sometimes, last season I loved it because Chris Daughtry was on it, once he got kicked off, I pretty much quit watching. I am completely hooked on Greys anatomy! I want Dr. McDreamy!!

Monday, January 15, 2007

Fun Weekend. I had a chance to see a couple movies - which is one of my favorite things to do. I saw Rocky Balboa, pretty good. Then I saw "The Holiday" which is just a traditional chick flick - my favorite genre! Went out to eat a couple times with a couple of my girlfriends....also one my favorite past times. Buffalo Wild Wings and Pasquales....managed to eat healthy at both places - Naked Chicken tenders ( no breading) and a veggie pizza with no cheese. You may be asking yourself what is the point of pizza with no cheese but it's delicious the way they make it at this particular restaurant, it's very thin crust and it's the perfect combination of thin green peppers, onions and a tomato sauce with lots of seasonings and you just throw some parmesan cheese on and it's so good! I was feeling strong so I went with it. I actually went out dancing for a bit on Sat too! Got in some exercise without even trying! Got some cleaning done yesterday. Why is is that no matter how clean/neat the rest of the house is, my room is always a mess?!!??!?

Friday, January 12, 2007

Today I am feeling good. It's Friday and I'm really looking forward to the weekend and hanging out around the house and getting some much needed cleaning done! Work is a bit of a bore today so it'll be nice to get out of here.

I've been going to Weight Watchers for a looong time now and have just lost and gained the same few pounds a million times. I mean, overall, I am down about 15 lbs from when I started but I had lost up to 25 lbs at one point (which didn't last long) and I have slowly gained 10 lbs back. At this point, it's safe to say that I've kept the 15 lbs off but I need to get back on track to start losing again instead of yo-yoing back and forth with a couple pounds. I am prepared though, I went out and bought tons of the things I need to stay on track, fruit, veggies and lo-point snacks. I AM ARMED! As the old saying goes...."if you fail to plan, you plan to fail" I am going to continue on in my quest for a healthy lifestyle, I have to be able to do it for the rest of my life, that's the goal.

So, in addition to eating healthier, I need to start moving more, I'm not talking about working out everyday like a maniac, I'm talking about taking the stairs, parking a good distance from the door eventhough there's a space right in front of the door. Walking more, just getting in more steps each day. I know these kinds of things make a difference yet I continue to hop on the elevator everyday when I walk into work. This has got to stop!

Thursday, January 11, 2007

Today is not a fun day at work, things are a bit tense, a bunch of nonsense about a conference in Florida and who gets to attend. Nelly and I are sitting in our office with the door tightly shut to avoid the battle grounds! We're going to a conference in Florida in March...woo-whooo!!!! It's good because I am getting burned out at work, I want to do something different, it's the same ole' thing day after day!!!

Again, the little one is home sick from school, this makes 3 days. That's a lot of time off school...she may never want to go back! I know I had a hard enough time coming back after my break over Christmas!!

I am thinking of planning a little girls dinner party. Not a "little girl" dinner party but a small dinner party ;-) Maybe sometime in Feb, just something to look forward to and break up the winter blahs! I haven't decided completely b/c I don't know if I'm up for doing any sort of party planning, I've hosted quite a few parties since I bought my house. One in October, 1 in November, and 3 in December.... now that I write that I'm wondering if I'm crazy! Not little dinner parties either...big parties.

Question: How is Diet Mountain Dew Calorie free when there is concentrated Orange Juice in it?!??!??!
